First-class BA Honours in English, University of Wales
MA by thesis, University of Manchester
PGCE in further & higher education, University of Manchester
PhD by publication, Manchester Metropolitan University.

Lecturing and research:

I have taught in further education colleges, art colleges, adult education centres, polytechnics and universities. It was only when I became a full-time lecturer, however, that I found time and opportunity to develop my own research interests. These can be summed up as the relating of literature / culture to ecology, to myth, to religion and to music. Of these, the ecological is increasingly the most important relationship.

Journals:

I am the founding editor of Green Letters (2000 onwards), and I remain a member of its editorial board. I have reviewed regularly for Poetry Nation Review and for Religion. In 2009 I began reviewing for the Times Higher Education magazine.
