About Laurence CoupeI am Senior Lecturer in English at Manchester Metropolitan University. Books:Myth (London: Routledge, 1997; 2nd fully revised Qualifications:First-class BA Honours in English, University of Wales Lecturing and research:I have taught in further education colleges, art colleges, adult education centres, polytechnics and universities. It was only when I became a full-time lecturer, however, that I found time and opportunity to develop my own research interests. These can be summed up as the relating of literature / culture to ecology, to myth, to religion and to music. Of these, the ecological is increasingly the most important relationship. Journals:I am the founding editor of Green Letters (2000 onwards), and I remain a member of its editorial board. I have reviewed regularly for Poetry Nation Review and for Religion. In 2009 I began reviewing for the Times Higher Education magazine. Responses to my work:My work has been influential and has been praised by important writers. For example: '[Myth is] a lively and clear introduction to different approaches [to the subject].' 'The Green Studies Reader [is] admirable. [It] will stimulate new generations of students into new and vital reanimations and rethinkings of their literary inheritance.' Read more Responses and reviews. Read an interview with me published in UNSUNG magazine. |
